Waha Makkah Compound

Inspired by the idea of a self-sustaining oasis, WAHA Makkah was envisioned as a residential development where the essence of life is defined by harmony between architecture, landscape, and cultural context.
The design integrates internal living spaces with surrounding natural elements, creating a balanced and cohesive environment rooted in the values of privacy, community, and spiritual calm—principles central to life in the city of Makkah.
Across a site area of 660,000 sqm, the development consists of residential blocks configured around landscaped corridors and shared green spaces, with each building rising from a basement level to five upper floors.
The architectural language emphasizes modesty and restraint, allowing the experience of place and natural setting to take precedence. Careful attention was given to orientation, spatial flow, and transitions between private and communal areas, reinforcing a sense of belonging while preserving the site’s natural character.
