- Al-Zawyah Al-Belkaediah presents a civic landmark rooted in surroundings, customs, and community needs, conveyed as a multi-purpose community center located atop a hill in Al Rokaekeen Village. It provides customary facilities for its village, including a mosque, school, hospital, and a multi-purpose event hall, which together amount to a total built-up area of approximately 3,900 sqm.
- Echoing traditional Upper Egyptian architecture, the design adopts a compact urban fabric organized around a central spine and branching courtyards. With panoramic views of the Nile to its south and agricultural land to its north and west, the site is visible from all directions as it is positioned on elevated terrain.
- Structured as a single-story bearing-wall system, the building uses local construction techniques designed to empower the local workforce during the construction process. Vaults, domes, and internal courtyards were adopted to moderate the region’s harsh climate, while the use of local stone, simple materials, and earth tones maintains harmony with the context.
